Buyer beware: what’s in your hemp cbd?

Back to blog

Recent news about the potential dangers of vaping remind us that just because a product is on the market doesn’t mean that it’s safe – or even regulated.

Did you know? The Hemp CBD market is unregulated. There are currently no federal or state regulations to make sure that Hemp CBD companies follow standardized growing and manufacturing practices. Which means it’s difficult to know which Hemp CBD products are safe and which are not.

Scary, right?

Without regulations, Hemp CBD can be grown with pesticides, mishandled, improperly stored, and processed into consumer products with harmful chemicals.

Even worse, non-certified companies can manufacture products filled with dangerous mold, salmonella, toxic chemicals, heavy metals, and potentially life-threatening microbes–and you’d never know it, until it’s too late.

For example, Hemp CBD flower or plants warehoused at a farm or growing facility in a non-temperature-controlled facility can become “hot” or damaged by excessive heat, creating an environment where mold, bacteria and dangerous microorganisms flourish.

All companies want to sell their products and make money. But unethical companies don’t care if the products they’re selling are unsafe. When Hemp CBD flower sits around long enough at a farm’s storehouse, the wholesale price for it drops. Some companies will buy old Hemp CBD flower and use it to make poor quality CBD products, making a profit at your expense.

This happens more often than you’d want to believe!

Our approach is different. JAYA products are certified to be safe and pure by MCR Labs, a premier, independent third-party accredited testing lab.

Our quality promise on every product. MCR Labs tests the purity, strength and manufacture date of our JAYA Hemp CBD products: scan the QR codes on each label and see for yourself. You can trust that the information you get off our products’ labels is accurate.

Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for Hemp CBD. Hemp CBD companies often supply certificates of analysis (COAs) on their product labels. You can find these certificates on most Hemp CBD product labels in the form of scannable QR codes, like this one from JAYA:

The Gold Standard. Certificates of Analysis (COAs) are widely used in the food and drug industry. COAs show product origin, quality, potency, and chemical makeup. Our COAs are always up-to-date and accurate.

JAYA won’t ever sell you Hemp CBD that hasn’t been tested by an independent, third-party lab to be safe and effective. We won’t make or sell any product that isn’t of the highest quality and purity. It’s that simple.
